From the Source September 10 2005 - October 22 2005September 10 – October 22, 2005 From the Source is about society, culture and art. Through fashion photographs from the last 70 years, and the source imagery that inspired them, we look at collaborations between photographers, art directors and stylists to create work for designers and editorials. The exhibition From the Source is a collection of photographs from over 50 artists, co-curated by Jane Corkin and Paul Sinclaire. Jane Corkin is co-director of the new Corkin Shopland Gallery in Toronto’s Distillery District. She has a 30 year history as a major player in the world of photography, including having represented and exhibited early-on Penn, Avedon, Horst and Scavullo, some of the most extraordinary fashion photographers of their day who crossed the threshold into the art world. Paul Sinclaire was formerly an editor of American Vogue, Italian Vogue and L’Uomo Vogue, and a freelance Design Consultant for Valentino, Trussardi, Dolce & Gabbana, Ferre, and Dior. Both Sinclaire and Corkin have worked with many of the artists in this show in different capacities. They bring together their unusual abilities to cross-pollinate within, and between their fields.
