Gina Rorai - Paths of Appearance
The paintings of Gina Rorai examine interior and exterior space on the same plane. Combined with unconventional scale, the paintings prompt us to examine interior thoughts. Exterior landscapes appear to stabilize an inner world. Rorai paints from her own collection of objects, including her own landscape studies which she uses as part of her props.
Gina Rorai completed her BFA at York University in 1989. She was included in 60 Painters at Humber Arts and Media Studios and in Contingency and Continuity: Negotiating New Abstraction at the Macdonald Stewart Art Gallery at Guelph. This is her first exhibition with Corkin Gallery.
