Leopold Plotek is a leading abstract painter in Canada. His large-scale canvases engage with history through architecture, literature, art, and philosophy. Throw Away the Lights, the Definitions, his first show with Corkin Gallery, will highlight recent paintings in conversation with pivotal works that span his career.
Born in 1948 in Moscow, Plotek emigrated from Warsaw, Poland, to Canada in 1960. Since 1976, Plotek’s work has been the subject of numerous solo and group exhibitions including at the National Gallery of Canada, the Musée des Beaux-Arts, Montréal, and the Musée d'art Contemporain, Montréal.
