Ontario Arts Council awards Michelle Forsyth an Established Artist Grant.
Through an interdisciplinary practice that involves painting, printmaking, sculpture, photography, and writing, Forsyth will create complex and thought-provoking autobiographical works. The finished works will speak to human experience, with all its dreams and reveries, as well as its nightmares and sorrows. More specifically, Forsyth will produce a suite of photographs of objects that she has collected over the years. Each item will be pictured as an interaction between her interaction within her sea of collected items and will act as a stand in for the memories and loss she has experienced over the years. The works depicted in this series will be driven by a deep fascination with the complexities of time, and memory, as seen through the objects that surround her in my home, and through her own physical resilience with being an active participant in everyday life.
