The Corkin Gallery is pleased to announce that Sara Knelman is the new gallery Director. Knelman has over ten years of international experience in arts management, curatorial practice and post-graduate teaching in the fields of art history, museology and the history of photography. She begins her new role effective immediately.

Knelman developed and led an exciting program of international exhibitions and projects as the Curator of Contemporary Art at the Art Gallery of Hamilton from 2005-09, and led an active program of talks and events as the Talks Programmer at The Photographers' Gallery, London in 2012-13. She has taught at numerous institutions, including the Courtauld, London and Ryerson University's School of Image Arts, Toronto. Sara writes about contemporary art and photography for publications including Aperture, Frieze, Prefix Photo, Canadian Art, and Source: The Photographic Review.
"I'm thrilled to rejoin the team at Corkin Gallery," said Sara Knelman. "My early-career experiences at the Gallery helped spur my interest and ambition in art and art history. I'm looking forward to working closely with Jane and the talented staff, and to many exciting experiences ahead."
Knelman will lead all of the Gallery's departments. She will focus on developing powerful and challenging exhibitions in support of the Gallery's outstanding stable of contemporary artists, and to showcase its unique and renowned historical collection, in addition to developing the Gallery's educational programming and cross-institutional collaborations.
Toronto-born Sara Knelman holds a PhD and MA from the Courtauld Institute of Art, London, and a BA in English Literature from McGill University. She is currently leading a course in Curatorial Practice at the University of Toronto.
