Artist and producer Jeff Chiu won the DGC Ontario & WIFT Toronto Award (Presented at Reel Asian Film Festival, 2022) and the Best of Showcase Award (Presented at the 2022 WIFT Showcase) for his film A Hundred Joys.
A Hundred Joys documents the intersection of Toronto's East Chinatown, capturing the community in its everyday life. The 5- min film captures the vivacious tenacity of Toronto's small cultural communities, exploring a deeper look at the intertwined relationships. This documentary gives a voice to the community, identities, anxieties, and experiences within the East Chinatown Neighbourhood. Through interviews with different business owners and residents, the film captures the impact of this vibrant community in the wake of gentrification, emphasizing Chinatown's history of migration and dispossession.
Jeff Chiu has been working as a film producer, and his most recent film, made with the director Amanda Ann-Min Wong, has been selected for festivals in Canada and US and won two prizes.
